The project
The brief was a weekend house that would feel calm at any hour. We kept the plan to a single sweep of space under a ribbed vault, so the living room, library alcove and terrace read as one room that simply changes light.
The vault is lined in lime-washed timber ribs that catch the low sun and throw soft shadow lines across the ceiling. Two full-height arches frame the horizon; nothing else competes with them.
Furniture is deliberately low and rounded — bouclé sofas and a single travertine block table — so the view stays unbroken from the entrance. Storage is carved into the thickness of the walls rather than standing in the room.
Lighting is concealed along the spring line of the vault. After dark the ribs glow faintly and the dunes stay visible through the glass instead of reflecting the room back.
