An apartment above the Mediterranean opened up to its terrace, with oak beams, whitewashed stone and a living room that never closes its doors in summer.

The project
Four small rooms became one generous living space facing the water. The renovation exposed the original oak beams and moved every cupboard into a single wall of joinery so the sea view could run the full width of the plan.
Folding glass doors disappear into the wall, turning the living room and terrace into one space from April to October. The terrace floor continues the interior stone at the same level, so the threshold is only a line.
The fireplace was rebuilt in whitewashed stone as the one heavy element in an otherwise light room. Shelving either side holds books and pieces collected by the family rather than styled objects.
Outside, stone arches frame the coast and pendant lanterns hang low over the dining table, making the terrace a room of its own after sunset.
